About the Role 

WildBrain is looking for a Sr. Manager, Finance to join our finance team in our Toronto office! Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Sr. Manager, Finance will be a trusted business partner for the Distribution business unit.

 

This role requires a candidate who can work independently and lead a team, as well as take a key role in finding and driving opportunities for process improvement.  A successful candidate will be able to adapt and apply their experience to a wide range of situations. With a keen eye for detail, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in management accounting and/or FP&A and the ability to partner with various stakeholders throughout the organization.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Track performance against budget, monthly and quarterly targets, and forecasts
  • Review and analyse monthly and quarterly financial results with all key management groups and provide topline projections
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business to collaborate with management to forecast revenues, operating costs, capital expenditure requirements, report on operating metric and various key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead a team of two analysts in London (UK), providing supervision, coaching and mentoring
  • Partner with managers and business unit leaders to support Sales, AVOD, Operations and Technology groups
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and find opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology to generate efficiencies
  • Supervise revenue recognition, billing and collection cycles
  • Liaise between business managers and Finance to ensure effective partnerships and relationships are built that enhance communication and collaboration efforts
  • Build operating and business models to support strategic decision making, analyze new business opportunities and help formulate strategies to see them through to implementation
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in system implementations and other process improvement initiatives
  • Support project management and new business opportunities

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation or similar
  • Experience working in a public company or public accounting sector; media experience preferred
  • Ability to lead a small team, work independently and set and achieve goals autonomously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with leaders at all levels in a cross functional capacity 
  • Ability to solve problems, innovate and develop new processes/improve existing processes
  • Strong IT skills, comfortable analyzing and working with data and operating and learning new systems
  • Expert level Excel skills are essential, including proficiency with Power Query
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio or similar
  • Experience building forecast models in Excel; experience with non-excel FP&A products beneficial
  • Familiarity with investment modelling including NPV analysis, IRR etc...
  • Highly analytical, with excellent organization skills and attention to detail
