About the Role 

Reporting to the Manager of AV Engineering, the AV Technical Support Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of all systems relating to media operations in London and Toronto. As well as technical competency, this role requires a combination of effective communication and relationship building skills to work with multiple teams simultaneously, across the company.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Provide timely AV technical support to Media Operations and Editorial teams in the UK, both on site and remotely
  • Run daily checks on general health and troubleshoot all media systems including but not limited to MAM, PAM, transcode systems as well as desktop hardware and software
  • Alert Manager of AV Engineering if Tier 3 support is required
  • Perform user administration for file transfer systems such as Signiant and Aspera
  • Advise if escalation to vendor is required, raise tickets, and maintain contact with vendor until a resolution is reached
  • Implement maintenance plans for all UK AV hardware and software
  • Monitor all UK AV equipment and track inventory
  • Provide support for companywide AV support projects/implementations as needed

Qualifications 

 

  • Experience in a broadcast/video engineering related role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology preferred (specializing in Video Communications, Telecommunications and/or Electronics)
  • Strong knowledge of post-production workflows/systems (specifically Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Proficient in Windows, MAC, and LINUX/UNIX operating systems
  • Knowledge of video distribution and production standards
  • Knowledge of professional organizations such as ITU, ATSC, IEEE and SMPTE
  • Experience working with video servers, switches, and networking
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in IT/AV system administration
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required
