About the Role 

The Finance Department is looking for a Director, Production Finance to join and lead our Production Finance team! Reporting to VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, you will oversee all production finance functions in Toronto and Halifax, supporting our Content and Development teams, to oversee financial management, production accounting, and financial planning & analysis for individual productions (live action and animated) and the business unit.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Oversee all aspects of production finance and production accounting, ensuring duties are carried out in accordance with company guidelines and policies
  • Oversee financial planning and analysis to develop financing structures, and create/analyze budgets, cashflows, tax credit estimates and profit margins for greenlight purposes
  • Represent WildBrain finance in negotiations with production partners/stakeholders and act as trusted finance partner to business unit heads
  • Manage cash flows for all development and production projects and review with corporate finance
  • Drive the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process for Toronto production
  • Oversee cost reports, EFC’s, project contingency usage, and manage communications with production partners and other 3rd party stakeholders
  • Review and approve all interim financing reports and drawdown schedules, AR aging reports
  • Manage all final closing of projects, communications with production auditors (with controllers), CRA auditors and ensure business affairs receives all final closing workbooks
  • Liaise with corporate finance (CFO, EVP, Finance, Treasury) to support quarter-end financial reporting and ad-hoc requests
  • Provide quarterly and annual tax information to facilitate tax returns filing of non-tax credit claim years
  • Manage production finance team

Qualifications 

  • Proven record in production finance
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
  • Well-versed in tax credits/Canadian funding model, international co-production rules and general independent production financing structures
  • Working knowledge in tax incentive systems in Canada and understanding of other production funding sources around the world
  • Experience working with Smart Accounting/Global Vista
  • Strong excel and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Familiarity with Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Ability to solve problems, innovate and develop new processes/improve existing processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
