About the Job/Role

WildBrain is looking for a Manager, Finance to join our finance team in our London, UK office! Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Manager, Finance will lead a small finance team within the WildBrain Spark business unit. 

 

Supporting WildBrain Spark management and working with head office Finance, the role will take ownership of the business unit P&L and financial planning cycle. The Manager, Finance will develop a strong understanding of the business and provide analysis and strategic financial advice on all aspects of business operations, including digital distribution, content production, digital sales, and media agency. 

 

This role requires a candidate who can work independently and lead a team, as well as take a key role in finding and driving opportunities for process improvement.  A successful candidate will be able to adapt and apply their experience to a wide range of situations. With a keen eye for detail, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in management accounting and/or FP&A and the ability to partner with various stakeholders throughout the organization.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the business unit P&L including monthly and quarterly internal reporting, responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and financial data.
  • Managing the business unit financial planning process, including building forecast and budget models, working with business unit leaders to develop assumptions and targets, and responsibility for planning and scheduling work.
  • Partnering with business unit leadership to present financial results and commentary, providing analysis and insights, and advising on strategic decision making. 
  • Leading a team of two analysts, providing supervision, coaching and mentoring.
  • Owning and supervising various accounting processes and workpapers within the team, including responsibility for finding opportunities to improve processes and leveraging technology to generate efficiencies.
  • Supervising revenue recognition, billing and collection cycles
  • Working with both business unit leadership and Finance to serve as a bridge between the two teams and ensure effective communication
  • Advising management on ad hoc projects, analysis and financial models.
  • Supporting investment and commercial deal making processes by providing financial analysis, advice on deal structuring, and assessment of the accounting treatment of deals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation or similar.
  • Experience working in a public company or public accounting sector; media and/or studio production experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead a small team, work independently and set and achieve goals autonomously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with leaders at all levels in a cross functional capacity .
  • Ability to solve problems, innovate and develop new processes/improve existing processes.
  • Strong IT skills, comfortable analysing and working with data and operating and learning new systems.
  • Expert level Excel skills are essential, including proficiency with Power Query.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio or similar.
  • Experience building forecast models in Excel; experience with non-excel FP&A products beneficial.
  • Familiarity with investment modelling including NPV analysis, IRR etc.
  • Highly analytical, with excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
