About the Role:

WildBrain is looking for a Business Affairs Associate to join our Business and Legal Affairs Team in Toronto.  Reporting to the Manager, Business Affairs, the successful candidate will be responsible for department coordination and administration, as well as drafting, reviewing, administering, and negotiating various content rights, development, production, and distribution agreements.


What You'll Do: 

  • Provide general administrative support, including paper and electronic filing, tracking deadlines, updating databases, coordinating meetings, and arranging for timely execution of agreements, for the development, production, and distribution departments
  • Draft and administer, from our templates, various development and production agreements and related documentation, such as rights acquisition agreements and above the line talent agreements; and license agreements and dub access agreements
  • Assist in the preparation of start up paperwork for our various series with the applicable guilds and unions (i.e., WGC, WGA, ACTRA, DGC) and liaise with same to address matters related to such guilds and unions, particularly the Writers Guild of Canada and the Writers Guild of America
  • Remain up to date in current information regarding various funding guidelines as well as guild and union agreements
  • Assist with the preparation and administering of interim financing paperwork, if required
  • Track and obtain documents required for Distribution (notarization, authentication, authorization letters, insurance certificates, etc.), as well as broadcast contractual deliverables from studios and production companies (insurance certificates, chain of title, budget, etc.)
  • Work with legal counsel to oversee IP related issues and requirements (i.e., copyright applications, maintaining trademarks and DMCA takedown requests)


 What You Bring:

  • Experience as a coordinator or administrator within a legal environment or entertainment industry
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • Organizational and time management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple, complex confidential files
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with external and internal contacts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities effectively
  • Excellent, proactive client service that facilitates business goals
  • Sound judgement to make effective decisions and problem solve
  • Positive, professional team player who can work independently, reliably, and efficiently
  • Intellectual curiosity and the willingness to try new things in an effort for continual self-improvement, those around you, and the business
