About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Payroll and Benefits; the Payroll Administrator will process bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities in Canada including preparing standard payroll reports, reconciliations, and maintaining adequate employee back-up documentation for audit purposes.

 As a member of the Talent Operations team, the Payroll Administrator will work collaboratively with other team members to respond to employee inquiries, investigate, and resolve employee pay-related issues in a timely manner. The Payroll Administrator will also reconcile and manage year-end data including T4 slips.

 

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the processing of biweekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees keeping in mind (multi-province) provincial legislations including but not limited to new hires, terminations, leaves, commissions, adjustments and off-cycle payrolls
  • Review and verify data to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and statutory requirements, employment agreements, payroll policies and procedures
  • Process expense reimbursements and current/retro payments for salary/rate changes, as required
  • Validate those deductions and adjustments are correctly processed and calculate manual gross to net payments when necessary
  • Process Records of Employment and uploading to Service Canada using ROE web
  • Reconcile group benefit deductions and RRSP contributions against provider enrolment and participation records
  • Respond to queries and act as the main point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll
  • Contact payroll provider for any related issues with pay as needed
  • Create new hire files and manage filing for documents received in payroll
  • Process T4 and all related year-end activities
  • Creates and issues specific reports to Finance biweekly/quarterly/annually and when requested

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience processing full cycle payroll (annual) experience a must
  • PCP or working towards certification
  • Solid expertise with online payroll management systems is required (ie. Ceridian, ADP); previous experience in UKG payroll is ideal
  • Thorough understanding of group benefits programs and their administration
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required
  • Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
  • "Can-do" attitude, strong client/customer service orientation
  • Highly effective organizational skills, combined with the ability to multitask and prioritize on a daily and weekly basis to meet set and changing deadlines
  • High degree of business and personal sensitivity, utmost discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving skill
