About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Trade Marketing & PR, the Communications Manager will be key to managing external trade communications, as well as internal communications across both WildBrain CPLG & WildBrain Spark.


Working closely with the Head of Trade Marketing & PR, you will support trade comms strategy development and be responsible for the execution of the strategy to successfully drive (and protect) both WildBrain Spark and WildBrain CPLG businesses in trade media. You will work closely with our global teams across Marketing, Communications, Sales, Partnerships, Advertising Sales, and Licensing, as well as our external PR agency and trade partners.


The Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing all official external communications, be the day-to-day lead for all comms activity, managing the news pipeline, development of press releases and editorial copy, defining and articulating key messages, developing a strong and impactful program around key trade shows, creating engaging comms materials, and implementing effective measurement and evaluation. This remit includes trade publicity, events, profile building, internal communications, issue and crisis management.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications professional with an excellent track record and expertise in promoting, driving, and building the profile of an entertainment brand, licensing agency or adjacent business in the kids and family space. Experience working across markets would be welcomed.   • Execute an external trade communications programme that supports WildBrain Spark & WildBrain CPLG’s strategic priorities.
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications team to support local communications roll-out of all global initiatives.
  • Plan and implement internal communications specific to the WildBrain Spark and WildBrain CPLG teams and London-based operations (e.g., drafting internal memos, scheduling company townhall meetings, oversee internal newsletters)
  • Work closely with external PR agency to secure and oversee all PR activity including news and editorial features in all media.
  • Manage press releases with an external agency and handle all approvals with internal stakeholders/teams and 3rd parties.
  • Develop and adhere to communications processes, messaging guidelines.
  • Work closely with wider WildBrain Marcom team to provide updates and insights as required.
  • Liaise with key local market stakeholders and key executives to highlight and celebrate initiatives, deals, and representations to be announced externally and celebrated internally.
  • Plan and execute comms programmes around key trade events including Licensing Expo, BLE, Kidscreen, MIPCOM, CMC.
  • Work with all internal teams to produce clear, smart, accurate, and compelling comms materials for internal and external use.
  • Manage and oversee junior team members, sharing communications materials / press releases for social channels and content for the websites.



  • Proven track record in delivering outstanding trade and/or consumer communications programmes for an entertainment brand or adjacent business in the kids’ and family space.
  • Demonstrated excellence in external communications planning and execution. Additional experience with internal communications also preferred.
  • Knowledge of global trade and consumer media landscapes and an understanding of how to stand out in a competitive marketplace.
  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills and high level of grammatical knowledge - keen attention to detail
  • Experience collaborating across business and markets and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to flex approach for the good of the team, brands, and business.
  • Strong ability to set goals and manage multiple assignments to timelines and under pressure.
  • Excitement and passion about working in the kids’ and family space.
  • Embrace working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
