Overview

We are looking for an Artist Manager to join our team!

Responsibilities

Talent Management and Resourcing:

  • Represent WildBrain Studios to our artists
  • Work with Productions to implement plans for crew movement, headcount increases and decreases within their assigned department
  • Manage artist roll off plans at the end of production and ramp up for new productions or seasons
  • Maintain knowledge of 300+ crewing assignments in alignment with artists plans and production
  • Work with HR on managing employment status as needed e.g. LOA (leave), immigration/permit needs
  • Work with managers and supervisors to recommend appropriate salaries, pay raises and promotions, communicating increases with internal artists
  • Interact and build successful relationships with key internal stakeholders: recruiting, training, HR, other artist managers
  • Manage Associate Artist Managers and mentor their future career path into Artist Management
  • Working closely with recruiting and production to understand short-term and long-term staffing needs of each show
  • Working closely with production to project short-term and long-term staffing needs of each show, liaising with recruitment about crew considerations and needs
  • Maintain contact with WildBrain Alum, with the interest of bringing them back to the studio
  • Support the recruitment teams in respect to requirements for external crewing and resource management, reel reviews, and outreach
  • Assist the Director of Artist Relations and Development in building a team and clear processes for this department to function at it’s very best

 

Artist Developement and Management:

  • Support artists on their career development plans at the studio
  • Collaborate with heads of department for training opportunities
  • Support and manage cross collaboration and development opportunities for the artists
  • Help promote our creative studio culture
  • Manage artist onboarding and offboarding, including weekly orientation and exit interviews
  • Build skill / interest matrixes for artists
  • Collaborating on events and classes based on employee needs and desires
  • Help identify talent to work on additional studio short term projects
  • Manage transition process for artists between projects

 

Performance Management:

  • Conduct performance reviews with the input and support of the supervisors/managers
  • Work with productions and supervisors to accumulate 360 feedback
  • Coach supervisors and managers on navigating people matters and performance conversations
  • Initiating performance improvement check-ins and conversations

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in Animation or VFX industry is a must

Experience:

  • Experience with management principles, training and development
  • Experience in Production (Coordinating, PMing, Producing) or Artist Management is a must

Special Requirements:

  • You love working with people. Really!
  • You can make decisions, and communicate ideas – including having difficult but necessary conversations
  • You are able to take direction and work collaboratively within a team
  • You have the ability to communicate professionally and positively
  • You are well-organized with good time management skills
  • You have an inherent ‘joie de vivre’ and can motivate and inspire the artists you work with
  • You pride yourself on your excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • You can anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any issues with assistance from key stakeholders

Bonus:

  • HR experience also a bonus!
