WildBrain Studios is looking for a Director of Artist Management to join our team!

We are seeking a key partner to help grow the Artist experience. You will work Studio Leadership to support a career growth framework for the artists by informing Learning and Development, Succession Planning and Career Coaching. Reporting to the VP, Talent and dotted line to the Head of Production you will thrive in a fast-paced environment that will utilize your skills and experience to the fullest as you manage our talent base through current productions and through their futures at the studio.   • Working with the VP Finance and Head of Production you will work on a Studio Crewing Plan for WildBrain that balances the Artist experience and the business
  • Partner with the Director of Talent Management to inform the design and deliver on key People Processes including Management and Leadership initiatives to support leaders at WildBrain
  • Inform the development and lead the implementation of programs such as Performance Management, Succession Planning, Career Planning and On/Offboarding
  • Model an EQ focused approach to Artist solutions balancing traditional IQ approaches
  • Manage and develop a team of individuals in Artist Management
  • Provide best in class customer service to our Artists by implementing an ‘Artist centric’ approach to supporting the workforce
  • Provide Head of Production and the wider studio leadership strategic internal ‘crewing’ projections, working with leadership to have the right talent in the right roles


  • Architecting the right people in the right place and the right time by collaborating with the VP Finance and Head of Production on a Studio wide crewing plan taking into account the business needs and Artists skills and abilities.
  • Monitors the overall utilization of crews, and along with producers, proactively identifies downtime periods and presents options for engaging the artists/crew
  • Work with Artist Managers (AMs) and Producers to implement plans for casting, headcount increases and decreases within their assigned department, including providing strategic staffing projections
  • Support a team of AMs who manage up to 1000+ casting assignments in alignment with artists plans and production by being a key escalation point for AM’s
  • Work with the larger Talent team on managing employment status as needed e.g. LOA (leave), immigration/permit needs
  • Create and oversee a database of rates to inform AMs and Producers on appropriate salaries, pay raises and promotions, communicating increases.
  • Interact and build successful relationships with key internal stakeholders: Head of Production, VP Finance, Talent team, other Artist Managers
  • Manage Artist Management Coordinators on the upkeep of the AM systems, databases, templates and documentation
  • Support the maintenance of contact with WildBrain Alumni, with the interest of bringing them back to the studio
  • Support the recruitment teams in respect to requirements for external crewing and resource management, reel reviews, and outreach
  • Alongside the Head of Production manage AMs through artist roll off plans at the end of production and ramp up for new productions or seasons
  • Liaising with Recruitment Manager about projecting crew needs and future hiring trends and requirements


Artist Development

  • Manage an Artist management team who represent Wildbrain studios to our artists, supporting their career grown and development
  • Support AMs in creating artists career development plans at the studio
  • Collaborate with heads of department for training opportunities
  • Support and manage cross collaboration and development opportunities for the artists
  • In conjunction with the larger Talent team promote our creative studio culture
  • Manage the protocol for artist onboarding and offboarding, including weekly orientation and exit interviews
  • Support the building of skill / interest matrixes for artists
  • Collaborating on events and classes based on employee needs and desires
  • Create strategies to retain artists staff.
  • Support and conduct performance reviews with the input and support of the supervisors/managers
  • Work with productions and supervisors to accumulate 360 feedback
  • Coach directors, producers, supervisors and managers on navigating people matters and performance conversations
  • Support the initiating of performance improvement check-ins and conversations
  • Contribute to the creation of Leadership and coaching for leads, supervisors, and directors



  • 5+ years of experience in Animation or VFX industry is a must
  • Experience in Production (Coordinating, PMing, Producing) or Artist Management is a must
  • Ability to manage a small but key senior team
  • High level coaching and consultative skills
  • You have strong leadership skills, and the ability to work well with a diverse creative team
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while setting priorities and adapting to multiple demands for a department
  • Discretion in handling confidential matters and employee information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
  • Inspiring and maximizing communication amongst the creative team
  • You are driven, innovative, strategic and solution focused
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change
