WildBrain is looking for a Senior Technical Animator to join our Vancouver studio! In this role, you will be directly responsible for conducting quality control of all assets to ensure they are ready for production. You will work with the CG Supervisor, Rigging and Animation departments to ensure the geometry and rigs meet the needs of the show.


These roles are set to begin Summer 2021.


We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but due to technical limitations are only able to work with artists based in BC. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen.   • Conduct model and rig testing to ensure rigs are production ready
  • Conduct range of motion tests for all new character builds
  • Create show-specific cycles/poses
  • Create and rig Proxy models as needed, Proxy FX for timing, and Proxy lighting for lighting reference
  • Assist in the development of any specialized assets as needed
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of crowd solutions
  • Test and provide feedback on proprietary animation tools
  • Assist in training the Animation Team on an ongoing basis both technically and creatively
  • Troubleshoot animation and rigging issues and provide solutions for finalizing the animated look of a character or prop into a scene
  • Foster and enable communication and collaboration across departments
  • Complete assigned animation within scheduled timeframe
  • Help the artists on the team to ensure their output is both technically and artistically correct
  • Identify potential risks or issues and work on a mitigation strategy
  • Create setup files for assigned team, ensuring scene continuity is maintained



  • 3+ years of experience as an Animator in the animation industry
  • Proficient in Maya
  • Good knowledge of rigging tools in Maya
  • Strong understanding of key-framed animation development processes, limitations, and dependencies
  • Thorough understanding of animation principles
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Proactive work ethic, capable problem solver with the ability to implement solutions


  • Experience coaching and mentoring less experienced artists is an asset
  • Degree/diploma in animation or equivalent
  • Shotgun experience
  • Python and MEL scripting a plus
  • Interest in game engine pipelines
