WildBrain is looking for Designers to join our exciting new animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Prime, set to premiere worldwide in 2022.


This 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.


This feature quality episodic series will deliver the visually captivating, binge-worthy story that Sonic fans new and old are sure to love. We are on the hunt to find passionate and talented folks to join this team and help us really bring the blue blur to life!



As a Designer, you will execute key designs and create original concepts. This position is responsible for maintaining the show style and ensuring that the designs work within the story specifications.


We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!


  • Create original designs on show style according to production schedule
  • Work closely with Art Director and Lead Designer to keep designs manageable and complete work within the scheduled timeframe
  • Collaborate creatively with the design and modelling departments
  • Keep current with scripts and animatics to inform design choices
  • Learn and adhere to established production methodology
  • Identify and communicate any issues, concerns or efficiencies to Lead Designer
  • Participate in production & departmental meetings


  • 3+ years of 3D experience in production design for animation
  • Strong base in artistic fundamentals
  • Strong base in design fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Photoshop
  • Strong and versatile Design skills
  • Strong rendering skills
  • Strong understanding of lighting and colour
  • Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
  • Openness to direction and ability to embrace change



  • 3D design and modelling experience a definite asset
  • Maya, Blender knowledge/experience an asset
  • Katana and Arnold knowledge a plus
