Overview

WildBrain Studios is looking for a Lead Previs Artist to join our exciting new animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Prime, set to premiere worldwide in 2022.

 

This 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.

 

This feature quality episodic series will deliver the visually captivating, binge-worthy story that Sonic fans new and old are sure to love. We are on the hunt to find passionate and talented folks to join this team and help us really bring the blue blur to life!

 

 

As a Lead Previs Artist, you will get to interpret storyboards and realize them into the 3D environment by establishing camera blocking, composition and lens choice. You will work closely with the team to create balanced solutions and ensure that all sequences are delivered on time.

 

We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D visualizations of storyboard animatics
  • Establish camera blocking, composition and lens choice
  • Work with the Director to provide coverage options
  • Proactively identify possible creative / technical problems with shots
  • Ensure the previs team is productive by answering questions that arise
  • Train, mentor, and motivate new Previs Artists who are placed on the crew
  • Assist previs team in execution of camera lensing and staging, composition and blocking of scenes from storyboard animatics
  • Complete assigned sequences within scheduled timeframe
  • Ensure shot continuity
  • Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from CG Supervisor
  • Assist /guide Previs Artists in the organization of their assignments
  • Keep current on previs techniques and technology

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Previs for animation or film industry
  • Experience in Maya essential
  • Ability to interpret storyboards and realize them in a 3D environment
  • Firm understanding of cameras, staging, composition, perspective, pacing, timing and cinematography concepts in animation context
  • Ability to clearly communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure

 

Bonus:

  • Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience an asset
  • Basic modeling and rigging is an asset
