WildBrain is looking for a Shot Planning Artist to join our Vancouver studio for an exciting, new Peanuts Project! Working within ToonBoom Harmony, this role will be responsible for implementing the camera position, movement, and character staging on a shot by shot and sequence level. Additionally, they are responsible for organizing the technical shot structure for the next department.


We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!


  • Creation of proxy assets for characters and props
  • Scene assembly for each shot i.e. Importing proxies of Characters, Props and Backgrounds
  • Establishing the camera position, movement, and parallax based on Storyboards and BG Layouts
  • Implementing asset staging, proportions and rough timing
  • Continuity of assets and cameras on sequence level
  • Track BG versions and performing BG swaps through the whole pipeline
  • Assist with asset library updates when and as directed by Tech Lead
  • Communicate clearly between Animation, Character Builds, Backgrounds, Tech and Production Management


  • Must be organized and able to keep on schedule
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Willing to learn studio processes and tools
  • Open to expanding your skill set and knowledge base
  • Able to follow animatics/story boards and look for potential issues, inconsistencies, and continuity and flag to other departments as needed
  • Experience in Harmony is required
  • Experience with 2D Camera/Layout process is desirable
  • Strong sense of composition and design sensibilities
  • Understanding of 2D animation processes
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work as part of a team


  • Experience in Photoshop
  • Experience in other Animation software e.g. Flash or Maya
  • Working with Shotgun in Production would be an asset
  • Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school
