WildBrain is looking for a Shot Planning Supervisor to join our Vancouver studio for an exciting, new Peanuts Project! Working within ToonBoom Harmony, this role will be responsible for managing a team of artists in implementing the camera position, movement, and character staging on a shot by shot and sequence level. Additionally, they are responsible for organizing the technical shot structure and ensuring that all assets necessary for each shot are in the file before delivering to Animation.


We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!


  • Managing and supporting a team of Shot Planning Artists
  • Assignment and distribution of work to Shot Planning Artists
  • Works closely with Directors, Production Designer, BG Supervisor, Animation Director and Tech Director
  • Creation of proxy assets for characters and props
  • Scene assembly for each shot i.e. Importing proxies of Characters, Props and Backgrounds
  • Establishing the camera position, movement, and parallax based on Storyboards and BG Layouts
  • Implementing asset staging, proportions and rough timing
  • Continuity of assets and cameras on sequence level
  • Track BG versions and performing BG swaps through the whole pipeline
  • Assist with asset library updates when and as directed by Tech Lead
  • Communicate clearly between Animation, Character Builds, Backgrounds, Tech and Production Management


  • Experience in Harmony is required
  • Experience in Photoshop is required
  • Experience with 2D Camera/Layout process
  • Strong sense of camera, composition, and design sensibilities
  • Able to follow animatics/story boards and look for potential issues, inconsistencies, and continuity and flag to other departments as needed
  • Understanding of 2D animation processes
  • Must be organized and able to keep on schedule
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Willing to learn studio processes and tools
  • Open to expanding your skill set and knowledge base
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work as part of a team


  • Experience in other Animation software e.g. Flash or Maya
  • Previous experience working with Shotgun in Production
  • Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school
